Indigo Dying at Ai no Yakata
The beautiful indigo color, known worldwide as "Japan Blue", is created through traditional indigo dyeing techniques. Tokushima, the birthplace of "sukumo," the dye used in the indigo dyeing process, proudly preserves this age-old tradition. The sukumo made in Tokushima is affectionately known as "Awa Ai."
Visitors can experience the art of indigo dyeing by creating their own unique handkerchiefs in a hands-on experience at Ai no Yakata.
