The Heike clan is said to have built the double vine bridges to access to their riding ground about 800 years ago, using "shirakuchikazura" vines that grow naturally in the high mountains. There are two bridges, "Male Bridge" and "Female Bridge," that are sometimes called the "Wedded Bridges."
