Sunday Market
A traditional street market with over 300 years of history traced back to the Edo period. With about 500 stalls lined up along 1.3 kilometers of the street stretching east from the Otemon Gate of Kochi Castle, visitors can buy all types of fruit and vegetables, food ingredients as well as sundries, antiques, clothing, and more. Items available for sale include tomatoes, ginger, Tosa pomelo, Niitaka pear, as well as seafood, including fresh and dried young sardines, and other dried fish, inakazushi (mountain vegetable sushi), deep fried potatoes, Kochi's specialty beverage Hiyashiame made with Kochi-grown ginger, not to mention flowers, and other locally grown specialty products.
