Yakuoji is the 23rd temple on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage and has a reputation as a good place to pray for protection from one's "unlucky years." The temple is also known for its "yaku-zaka," where you can keep misfortune away by placing a one-yen coin on each step as you climb them.
