The Mizuki Shigeru Road is a popular tourist spot located in Sakaiminato City, the home town of the manga artist Mizuki Shigeru. Along the 800-meter road stretching from Sakaiminato Station to the Mizuki Shigeru Museum, there are many places in the city for humans to meet "yokai" (spiritual monsters), such as the 178 bronze "yokai" statues erected along the road, the "Kappa Spring," the "Yokai Shrine" where you can draw a yokai fortune slip, and a "Yokai Mailbox" where mail stamped with yokai postmarks are delivered. The Mizuki Shigeru Museum lets you have fun as you learn about the world of Mizuki Shigeru’s works. His manga, including his most famous work Gegege no Kitarō, yokai paintings, and quotes are shown through a mix of video displays and statues. In addition, the exhibition rooms offer displays of priceless original works that are changed every six months or so, meaning you can view the original works of Mizuki Shigeru almost all year long.
