The Kinashi and Kokubunji area of Takamatsu City is a massive production area for bonsai, which boasts of having the number one shares in the domestic market for matsu (pine) bonsai.
Blessed with good climate and well-drained soil, the bonsai culture has had its roots here for 200 years.
Even now, there are around 60 bonsai farmers in this area, and you can not only see beautifully potted bonsai, but also tour the bonsai fields where pre-potted bonsai are planted.
