This history museum introduces the history and culture of ancient Izumo and Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine. There is a 1/10 scale model of the main building of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, which is said to have boasted a height of 48m during the Heian Period. Visitors may see exhibits of numerous bronze swords (national treasures) excavated from the Kojindani site, a record number of 39 bronze bells excavated from the Kamo-Iwakura site, and the daily life of the people who lived in the Izumo area in ancient times. Also on display are the bases of huge pillars (Uzu pillars), which were discovered within the grounds of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine.
