Saijo Sakagura Dori
Aki Saijo is known as a famous brewery town alongside Nada and Fushimi, and 7 breweries are still operating even today in the area around JR Saijo Station. In this Sakagura Dori, which has been registered by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of the "33 Heritage Constellations of Industrial Modernization," you can enjoy the unique scenery of the bristling red brick chimneys and rooves, and the white walls and "Namako-Kabe" walls. During the brewing season, the faint scent of sake fills the streets, giving it a more tasteful atmosphere. Furthermore, there are breweries where you can try or buy sake, or try the sake's mother water. This is a town where you can fully enjoy sake, including cafes and restaurants made from remodeled breweries, and stores selling sweets and food made with sake or mother water. The "Saijo Sakagura Tourist Information Center" (Kugurimon West Building) is open as a rest spot for visitors to the brewery district, so you can refresh yourself here if you get tired from walking around.
